Course description: This course covers the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics with an emphasis on applications in chemistry. A comprehensive discussion of wave theory, operator formalism, angular momentum, model systems, and various approximation methods will provide the basis for a detailed examination of atomic and molecular electronic structure. The use of quantum theory, with the necessary approximations and modifications, in modern computational chemistry will also be addressed. The courses is intended for graduate students and advanced undergraduates.
