August 31	Reading: Carr; Booth pt I Research assignment: Come to class ready to say in 1-2 sentences what you hope to write your Master’s thesis on; these will be emailed to Ms. Moss and will provide the foundation for next week’s field trip. You are urged to meet with your primary advisor to run this topic up the flagpole.
September 7	Field Trip: Library, part II (MEET AT THE LIBRARY), rm 4037 Main Library, Janalyn Moss
September 14	Reading: Iggers Research assignment: Turn in to the instructor and to your advisor a preliminary list of PRIMARY SOURCES you have identified as useful for pursing a Master’s thesis on the topic of your choice. Be prepared to report to your classmates about your findings.
September 21	Reading: Gaddis; Booth pt II
September 28	Reading: Robin, pp. 1-110, 195-233 Research assignment: Turn in to the instructor and to your advisor a bibliography of SECONDARY SOURCES that you intend to use for your Historiographic paper.
