RANDOM INTERESTING THOUGHTS
from "Blogging, Journalism
and Credibility" conference
Harvard University, January 2005
| Mostly because of the Internet, there is an ongoing power shift in the information media (a term that once was more or less synonymous with "the press," but today no longer is) "from producers of media to the people formerly known as audience." The journalists of today and, especially, tomorrow -- that would be you -- owe a debt to bloggers, who may not themselves be "journalists" but are developing the Web as a platform for journalism. For instance, bloggers emphasize linking (as a form of supporting evidence), tapping distributed knowledge and considering news as a conversation. |
