Journalism Ethics: First Test
Thursday, Feb. 9

The high score of 101 (yes!) goes to the Lauras (BOTH Avey and Jensen). Congratulations, Lauras!

Close behind were Stephanie at 99 and Kelly at 98. Way to go!

The overall class average was 82 (of 100).

There were seven scores above 90.
There were 17 scores from 80 to 89.
There were seven scores from 70 to 79.
There were six scores below 70.

The test, which is worth 100 points, will be a combination of short-answer (probably including multiple-choice) and essay questions.

Expect to apply the ideas we have covered in class. For instance, I almost certainly will ask you to make one or more ethical decisions based on lecture and/or reading material.

Fair game for the test:

Readings:

* Patterson and Wilkins: Chapters 1 (including essay), IV, XII, plus case study IV-C.

* Merrill: Chapters One, Two, Three and Four

* Supplemental readings: Online and reserve readings (remember, the latter are available through ICON), plus handouts listed on the syllabus.

Lectures/Overheads/Class Discussions:

January 17, 19, 24, 26, 31; February 2, 7

Not on the test:

* Specific questions from Kovach and Rosenstiel.

* Questions about case studies in Patterson and Wilkins from weeks two or three.
