Most people assume that Muslim women are required by their religion to wear a hijab. But the truth is that women choose to wear it for a number of reasons - mostly cultural. Paula Miller and Shajia Ahmad talk about their experiences being Muslim women in Iowa and the reasons why they do and do not wear the hijab.
The Pentagon estimates there are 4,700 Muslims now serving the military. While they have served since World War II, they have not always been treated equally. One World War II veteran from Cedar Rapids, Abdullah Igram, worked to make sure Muslim soldiers receive proper religious recognition on their dogtags.
