Cellist Colin Carr has won many prestigious awards, including First Prize in the Naumberg Competition, the Piatiagorsky Memorial Award, Second Grand Prize in the Rostropovich International Cello Competition and First Prize in the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. As a soloist, Mr. Carr has performed throughout North America with the symphonies of Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Montreal, Rochester and Vancouver, among others. He has also appeared with European orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Philharmonia, RIAS Berlin, Royal Philharmonic and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. Mr. Carr was on the faculty of the New England Conservatory for sixteen years and in1998 was appointed professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In the fall of 2002, Mr. Carr will also begin teaching at State University of New York at Stonybrook.
