Textbook: William D. Callister, Jr., "Materials Science and Engineering, An Introduction", 5th Ed., Wiley, New York, 1999.
Exams: There will be a ninety minute midterm exam and a two-hour final exam. The final exam may be comprehensive, covering the whole course with particular emphasis placed on the material since the midterm.
Homework: Homework will be due at the beginning of class. Late homework will not be accepted. To facilitate grading please work only on one side of the paper and be sure your work is legible. If you miss getting the homework assignment in class, log onto WebCT (see below) and the assignment will be listed on the main Materials Science page, at the bottom of the page.
Grading: The lab reports will be graded by the T.A. and the exams and homework will be graded by the instructor. All exams are closed book.

Labs: You must complete a pre-lab prior
to each lab and enter all information in your lab notebook.
Links for all the lab manual materials and schedules are listed below. The
basic pre-lab requirements for each lab are given on the lab notebook web
page but the specific details needed to complete the pre-lab are given under
the individual lab. For example, click on "Lab 1: Crystallography"
below to read about this lab to determine the necessary information to complete
the pre-lab write-up requirements for that lab.
WebCT: you can take a look at your scores for labs, homework assignments,
exams and statistical information for each of these items by logging onto
WebCT.
Students who already have a WebCT v3 account should use their existing user ID. Note that your WebCT v2 ID's won't work in WebCT v3. Also note that login IDs and passwords are case sensitive!
