The course is designed primarily for teachers and prospective school administrative personnel. Class activity will include lectures, open discussions, guest speakers and class activities. You are encouraged and expected to ask questions and participate in active dialogues. The quality of our exchange of experiences and knowledge is relative to our participation as a class of the whole. Evaluation Academic evaluation in the form of grades will be conducted as follows: 1. There will be three examinations, each worth 25 to 30 percent of the final grade as announced. Tests will be multiple choice, essay, or more likely a combination of the two. Any student needing modifications or accommodations in the testing process should discuss the matter prior to the testing date. 2. Approximately 20% of the final grade will be determined by the Professor’s subjective evaluation of class participation (quality, not quantity), positive attitude, special assignments, and approved extra credit. Educators in class may also be evaluated on "successful educational leadership" criteria as exhibited in class discussion, papers, reports, and responses to examination questions. Factors involved in "successful educational leadership" include creativity (willingness to try different approaches), individualization (treating each person and situation anew), participative decision making, and humanism (respecting each person as a human being and treating them as you would like to be treated).
