Human Motivation

Child Development        Learning & Cognition        Classroom Assessment

This section has a dual emphasis. The
first is a theoretical one, as the course
introduces students to the theories,
perspectives, and empirical literature
that comprise the knowledge base of
contemporary motivation study.

The second is a practical one, as the
course endeavors to present an applied
perspective that seeks theoretically-guided
and empirically-supported solutions to
motivational problems in various settings.

In general, the course seeks to help students develop both the knowledge base and practical expertise to develop new programs and critique existing ones, to motivate the self and others, especially others. Lastly, the course makes an intentional effort to enable students to become life-long learners in the study of motivation.
