Anja Apitz is a Ph.D. candidate in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, and her language specialization is German. Her research interests include: Technology and its role in L2 acquisition; computer assisted and computer mediated language instruction; web-based language learning, instructional design; developing educational multimedia, SLA theories; foreign language pedagogy.

John Balong is also a Ph.D. student in Second Language Acquisition of German at the University of Iowa. He is also a German instructor at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. His research interests include: the role of technology in the acquisition of a foreign language; foreign language pedagogy; computer-assisted language learning; L2 reading; and connectionist theories of L2 learning.
