Format Tips for a Philosophy of Teaching Statement

In general, a statement of your philosophy of teaching should:

  • Be brief. One or two pages will usually do the job.
  • Be readable by a broad audience, and therefore avoid technical terms and jargon where possible.
  • Take a narrative, first person form.
  • Be reflective and personal.
