A few resources on legal and ethical issues in
teaching:
- Copyright
- As usual on this campus, the library provides a good place to
start with "advice
for the weblorn." The Crash
Course in Copyright from the University of Texas is quite
useful. The official source, of course, is the United
States Copyright Office.
- Accomodations and Access
- This very useful set of questions
and answers cover most of what a teacher needs to know. If for
some reason, you want to read the whole code, it's readily
available.
- Privacy
- The Family
Policy Compliance Office of the Department of Education is in
charge of enforcement FERPA, and they have a good explanation
of the provision of the act as well as the actual
regulations.
- Personal Relations
- I think the University of Iowa policy
on sexual harassment and consensual relations is an excellent
guide, and you may want to explore some of the other links
the Office of Affirmative Action has identified.
