The purpose of this course is to provide you with the opportunity to read and learn about the teaching of literature to adolescents in middle and high schools. We will read, discuss and write about a wide range of literary texts, some of which will be assigned and others which you will choose from recommended lists or other sources., We will simultaneously study the teaching of literature, including the multiple ways students and teachers interact with the text within the context of various classroom settings. Oral presentations, small group work, written assignments, projects and tests will be used to evaluate your understanding and help you develop as both a student and teacher of literature.
