Brief Professional Resume:
Dr. Walker joined the faculty in 1969. He previously held appointments
at St. Louis University and the University of Pittsburgh. He is
a retired U.S. Army officer.
Teaching Responsibilities: Undergraduate and graduate
pediatric dentistry. Sports dentistry.
Clinical Activities: Dr. Walker is involved with the treatment
of children of all ages (normal and developmentally disabled)
and also is responsible for a number of University of Iowa athletes.
Research Activities: Dr. Walker's research has included
periodontal disease in children, the incidence of smokeless tobacco
use in college athletes and other sports dentistry-related activities.
National or International Professional Appointments or Activities:
Dr. Walker is a member of the American College of Dentists, the
American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association,
the International College of Dentists, and the American Public
Health Association, and the American/International Association
of Dental Research. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy,
a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a member
of the American Society of Dentistry for Children, the Iowa Dental
Association, the Johnson County Dental Society, Phi Beta Delta,
and the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped. He is past president
of the Iowa Society of Pediatric Dentistry and Omicron Kappa Upsilon
as well as the University District Dental Society. Dr. Walker
is past assistant deputy of Delta Sigma Delta.
