Grading Rubric for Software
Review
Your Camtasia software reviews will be judged on the
following criteria:
40% Effective
demonstration of the program (10 points each):
- Provides good overview of the entire program,
including who the developers and publishers are, the contents, who the target
audience is, what language level itŐs for and what skill(s) it addresses.
- Clearly describes activities, interaction types,
and feedback.
- Shows technical/multimedia features of the
software.
- Presents basic information about the software: what
form(s) itŐs available in (online, CD/DVD, both), how much it costs, any
special requirements for using it (installation of special software or
client, extra hardware, etc.).
40 % Thorough critique of the program (10 points each):
- Describes the general strengths and weaknesses
of the program.
- Analyzes the pedagogical approach used and
judges the value of the materials for instruction.
- Critiques the quality and appropriateness of
multimedia elements, as well as the accuracy/appropriateness of the language
content.
- Describes all the special features (if any) available
to students and teachers: control
over interaction settings and content, recordkeeping mechanisms, support from
publisher/developer.
20% Quality of
the Camtasia video: organization and presentation factors (5 points each):
- Narration is clear and fluent. Relatively few pauses and false starts.
- Audio from software program is audible.
- Video is based on an effective script: materials are well-organized, resulting
in a coherent presentation.
- Makes effective use of special effects and
transitions.
