Requirements:

Attendance:
I will take attendance for every class. You are allowed up to 4 unexcused absences that will not count against your grade. Any other absences require documentation. It is your responsibility to notify me prior to the lecture or assignment due, true emergencies excepted. Note that written excuse notes are not provided by the doctors at student health services. If you cannot attend class due to illness, you may use the form on the Registrar's web site: http://www.uiowa.edu/registrar/forms/absence.htm.

Assignments:
Read the assignments prior to class. The standard rule at Iowa is that each hour of class time should translate into a minimum of 2 hours of work you do outside of class. Some of you may need less time to get a satisfactory grade, and some of you may need more. It is your responsibility to determine how much time is sufficient. It does not mean that once you reach the six hour point, you are no longer responsible for preparing for that class.
