How to get involved.
There are many opportunities to get involved with CCDF. To get more information on how you can participate, please contact Opportunity at Iowa at 335-3555.
Volunteer at the Festival
Volunteers are needed the day of the festival and only asked to work a 3 hours shift so that they can enjoy the many activities and programs themselves. Some of the possible volunteer shifts include: selling soda pop, assisting with program set up in the various area, passing out flyers or surveys, driving a shuttle van, and monitoring rooms.
Present a program or be a vendor at Festival
Individuals or UI organizations wishing to educate or share their traditional cultural activities, foods, games, recreational activities, or arts/crafts are encouraged to contact Opportunity at Iowa for further information on how to participate at the festival.
Become a Cultural Day Committee Member
The CCDF Committee welcomes any UI Staff, Faculty and students interested in working to create one of the largest UI sponsored festivals. Committee meets monthly for the year prior to the event, with additional sub-committee meetings and work sessions. Some of the committees include: programming, publicity, volunteers, facilities, vendors, and evaluation.
The CCDF Committee is charged with planning and implementing a festival that will:
- Bring together American and international students and scholars in The University of Iowa and surrounding local communities.
- Interest more Iowans and Midwesterners in learning about different cultures.
- Increase the number of students and scholars from different cultures in University of Iowa programs.
- Offer students from different cultures the opportunity to share new and different aspects of their cultures with members of the University and the larger community.
- Publicize intercultural and recreational programs and events.
Serve on a Cultural Day Sub-Committee
Committee members are needed to plan, develop and implement specific activities for the festival. CCDF depends on the wide range of skills and expertise that committee members contribute in making CCDF a great success. Sub-committees meet monthly and on a more frequent basis as needed leading up the festival. Some of the committees available to serve on include: programming, publicity, volunteers, facilities, vendors, and evaluation.
