Thank you for your support in helping our community celebrate a culturally diverse world!
Why Get Involved?
Planning Objectives:
- To bring people from different foreign and domestic cultures together to learn about, from and with each other.
- To interest more Iowans in learning about cultures different than their own and to widen their cultural horizons.
- To increase the number of students and scholars from under represented cultures in leadership positions.
- To offer students from under-represented cultures the opportunity to share new and different aspects of their culture with members of the University and surrounding communities.
- To publicize other cross-cultural programs and events.
Audience:
The audience for the “Celebrating Cultural Diversity Festival” is multifaceted. Organizers seek to attract the following:
- UI students, faculty and staff
- Members of the Iowa City/Coralville communities
- People from surrounding communities
- Primary and secondary school children from Iowa City, Coralville, and Cedar Rapids
- Girl Scouts from the local communities
Publicity:
- A comprehensive press release, which promotes the entire schedule and is distributed via University News Services to all area newspapers, TV, and radio stations in eastern Iowa.
- Mailing to elementary (K-5) school teachers in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
- Promotional materials in UI campus display cases.
- Possible coverage on Channels 7 (KWWL), 2 (KGAN), and 9 (KCRG).
- Flyers around UI campus, Iowa City and Coralville Transit Systems, and business establishments throughout the greater Iowa City/Coralville area.
