BA in Cinema

 

In addition to meeting General Education requirements for the B.A. degree, cinema majors complete a minimum of 33 semester hours with the following distribution:

Common courses

48:001 Introduction to Film Analysis 3 s.h.
48:025 Introduction to Critical Reading and Viewing 3 s.h.
48:034 Modes of Filmmaking 4 s.h.
48:095 Undergraduate Seminar 3 s.h.

One of the following three courses in theory 3 s.h.

48:030 Introduction to Film Theory
48:100 Introduction to Critical Theory
48:120 Issues in Film Theory

One film studies or film production course at the 100 level 3 s.h.

14 additional hours of CCL courses, including at least 9 hours of advanced
film studies or film and video production courses (above 48:050).

Four-year Graduation Plan

Meeting the following milestones maintains progress under the 4-year graduation plan:

Before third semester: at least one-quarter of semester hours required for degree

Before fifth semester: at least two courses in the major and at least one-half of the semester hours required for graduation

Before seventh semester: at least six courses in the major and at least three-quarters of the semesters hours required for graduation

Before eighth semester: at least nine courses in the major During eighth semester: enrollment in all remaining coursework in the major, all remaining General Education courses, and sufficient semester hours to graduate.

 

Minor

Students majoring in another discipline may earn a minor in the department by completing 15 hours of work in C.C.L., including 12 s.h. numbered 48:050 and above, with a minimum grade-point average of 2.00.
