8/26/06 - Just confirmed: Caryl Flinn, renowned scholar of film music and new German cinema, has agreed to be our keynote speaker. Professor in Women's Studies at the University of Arizona, she is the author of The New German Cinema: Music, History and the Matter of Style and Strains of Utopia: Gender, Nostalgia, and Hollywood Film Music.

Keynote Speaker

Professor Caryl Flinn has confirmed as our keynote speaker. On Friday, February 23rd, she will give a talk titled "The Racial Vicissitudes of a Song: Irving Berlin's 'Heat Wave' on Film and Stage." Caryl Flinn is Professor of Women's Studies at The University of Arizona and author of Brass Diva: the Life and Legends of Ethel Merman, The New German Cinema: Music,History and the Matter of Style , and Strains of Utopia: Gender, Nostalgia, and Hollywood Film Music.
