Prose and Poetry Writing Contest: VOICES ON DISABILITY
The Voices of Disability Poetry and Writing Contest is to encourage creative writing that explores and illuminates topics around the word "disability."
Deadline: Entry must be submitted by December 31, 2009
Age Categories: Adult 18 & Over, Youth 17 & Under.
Prizes: One winner will be selected for each the four categories:
Adult Prose, Adult Poetry, Youth Prose, Youth Poetry.
Winners will be announced in January 2010.
1st Place $150
2nd Place $75
3rd Place $25
Contest Submission Guidelines:
- Open to all University of Iowa Faculty, Students and the Corridor Community to encourage creative writing that explores and illuminates topics around the word "disability."
- One entry per person only.
- There is no submission fee.
- Writing parameters: 1500 words or less, can be an excerpt from a longer work.
- Prose or poetry must not be previously published.
- Submission must be electronic and in word.doc format. Written submissions will be reviewed if accompanied by an electronic submission.
- Participants will need to consent to have their work published if selected. The most likely form of publishing will be online and linked to the CDA website.
- Applicant's entry must be submitted (in word.doc format) to cda@uiowa.edu by 12/31/09.
