  1. What is your role in CDA?
    • I have been a member for five years.

  2. What is your favorite thing about CDA?
    • Working with others who have a genuine interest in increasing disability awareness on the UI campus.

  3. What is your position on campus?
  4. What is your disability or condition, if any, if you are comfortable sharing?
    • I do not have a disability. However, I do have a daughter who has cerebral palsy, which is one of the reasons why this field of work is important to me. She is my constant reminder to not give up the fight for equality for individuals with disabilities.

  5. What is your educational background?
    • Bachelor of Arts, University of Iowa, 1993
    • Master of Arts, Urban and Regional Planning, University of Iowa, 1998
    • Juris Doctor, University of Iowa, 2002
  1. What advice would you give to a colleague on campus who has a (DIS)ability?
    • Know that you are not alone. WE are here to help you, along with the other great resources available at the UI. If you need a workplace accommodation, Faculty and Staff Disability Services is a great resource.

  2. What advice would you give to a student on campus who has a (DIS)ability?
    • Know that you are not alone.  WE are here to help you, along with the other great resources available at the UI. If you need an academic accommodation, Student Disability Services is staffed with great people.

  3. Where is your favorite place to eat in town?
    • Masala. Great Indian cuisine. If my Mom is in town, count on us being there for lunch.

  4. What is your favorite activity to do at UI?
    • I love to work out (did I really say “love”). So, I take advantage of the great fitness facilities that the UI has to offer.

  5. What best disability-related practices or changes do you recommend to better our campus?
    • I am currently working with a group to develop a comprehensive Disability and Accessibility Policy. A policy like this will be the driving force for how we think about accessibility on campus and providing a welcoming campus for all.
