Come share ideas about how to organize and teach undergraduate courses to provide the best learning experience for your students. This workshop will offer suggestions about pre-semester preparation, the early days, learner-centered teaching, and classroom management.

Sometimes students seem less-than-involved in classroom activity. They may appear to stare into space, text on their cell phones, surf the Internet, or even sleep. We will discuss strategies and activities to keep students involved in the classroom experience and motivated to learn.

When first incorporated into the classroom, chalk went a long way to enhance student learning. Today's instructors can choose from an array of innovative technologies- ICON, Elluminate, "clickers," and social media such as Facebook and Twitter - to help students learn in new ways. We'll discuss the learning impacts of teaching technologies and best practices for using them both inside and outside the classroom.

Grades are an important way to evaluate student learning - but only one of many. We'll talk about how you can help students prepare for exams as well as how to respond when they ask questions about their grades. We'll also address the issue of cheating and plagiarism.
