Center on Aging: Medicare Drug Information: Who Can I Contact?

Who Can I Contact?

For objective, one-on-one, help in comparing Medicare drug plans, contact Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) statewide at 1-800-351-4664. For a list of local counseling sites throughout Iowa, click here. For contact information for SHIP programs in other states, click here.

For Medicare drug plan comparison information, including monthly premium costs and lists of the drug plans’ covered drugs, visit Medicare’s plan comparison website at www.medicare.gov (available mid-October). Medicare’s also offers drug plan information through its toll-free phone number, 1-800-MEDICARE, open24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For Medicare drug plan comparison help, along with an eligibility screening tool for other federal and state programs, visit the Access to Benefits Coalition's Benefits Check Up Rx website (available mid-October).

For information on the “extra help” available for those with limited income and financial resources, and to apply on-line, visit www.ssa.gov, or call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213, or a local office of the Iowa Department of Human Services.

For outreach and community education materials, visit the website for Medicare Rx Education Network, an educational effort sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and dozens of national organizations.
