Requirements for Admission to Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program
- a minimum overall grade-point average of 2.80, with at least a 3.00 in classical languages
Items to Submit
- completed application form (if you apply online, the Admissions Office will send us a copy). When requested to enter a major field of study code, use 043 for Classics.
- verbal, quantitative, and analytical scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- If you are from a country where English is not the first language, please submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score
- three letters of reference sent directly from persons familiar with your academic performance, written on the referee's letterhead, along with our cover sheet.
- transcripts of all prior post-secondary academic records. The undergraduate transcript should include Latin and Greek language courses.
- a list of Greek and Latin works (if any) read in the original languages
- statement of purpose (1 page)
- writing sample (5-10 pages)
- $40 application fee
- post-baccalaureate submission form (.doc or .pdf)

For preference, application for admission should be submitted prior to February 15 for fall semester enrollment. Applications received after this date will still be considered. Applicants should take the GRE as soon as possible, as scores may not be received until a month or more after the examination is taken.
