A voluntary FREE registration program is offered to all students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Registration offers the following advantages: 1) unregistered bicycles will be immobilized or impounded for all parking violations; 2) registration serves as a deterrent to theft; 3) registration assists in the identification of lost or stolen bicycles; and 4) it allows the University to better plan for improved bicycle parking and operation on campus.
1) You can register at the Parking & Transportation offices (see below for address and hours), by mail or online. There is also an ownership transfer form if you have sold your registered bicycle with the decal attached.
2) Once you have registered, you will be given a registration decal which must be permanently and visibly affixed to the bicycle's down or seat tube. The University also accepts valid and current Iowa City and Coralville registration decals if the decals are affixed and visible on the bicycles.
3) If you sell or give your bicycle to someone, report it immediately to the Parking & Transportation office so that you are not held liable for any violations issued to the bicycle. Fill out the Bicycle Report of Transfer form located on the reverse side of your bicycle registration receipt and return it to our office. If you do not have the registration receipt, the transfer forms are available at the Parking & Transportation office or you can go to the Bicycle Report of Transfer Form above. You can either submit online or print out the form, complete the information and return it to the Parking & Transportation office.
