Employee Bus Pass Program Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty Transit Bus Passes

Discounted bus passes are available for 50% time or greater University employees who are also not University students.  Passes cost $10.00 per month for employees without a daytime parking permit or vanpool assignment and $23.00 per month for employees with a daytime parking permit and/or vanpool assignment.  An online form is available for Faculty and Staff to apply for bus passes. 

Bus Pass Application for calendar year 2009 The application may be completed online, printed, signed and returned to the Parking Office. Applications will be accepted at the Parking Office after December 16, 2008.

UI students (including graduate, teaching, and research assistants) may purchase discounted Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty bus passes.  For more information, go to the Student Bus Pass page.

• Passes come in the form of a magnetic strip card, which is valid for one calendar year (January 1st-December 31st).
• Passes may be purchased or cancelled throughout the year if they are not needed for the entire 12 months.
• Passes will be sold only through the UI Parking and Transportation offices.
• Employee Bus Pass participants are eligible for the Emergency Ride Home Program.
• North Liberty has contracted with Coralville Transit to provide bus service.  Coralville bus passes will be used on the North Liberty routes.

• Must be a UI employee working 50% time or greater and not a University student.  UI students (including graduate, teaching and research assistants) are not eligible for an employee pass but may purchase a student bus pass if they qualify.  Go to the Student Bus Pass page.
• Only one current pass will be issued to an employee at a time.  The pass is to be used only by the purchaser.
• To cancel a bus pass, the pass must be returned to the Parking Office.  Pass payroll deductions will terminate when all due charges have been deducted or billed for payment.
• If employment is terminated, the bus pass must be returned to the Parking Office for cancellation.  Pass payroll deductions will terminate when all due charges have been deducted or billed for payment.
• Iowa City passes will only be sold to employees residing in Iowa City.  Coralville passes will only be sold to employees residing in Coralville and North Liberty.  Exceptions may be made on an individual basis for employees not residing in Iowa City, Coralville or North Liberty.
• Passes cost $10.00 per month for employees without a daytime parking permit or vanpool assignment.
• Passes cost $23.00 per month for employees with a daytime parking permit and/or a vanpool assignment.

• Employees may either pay with cash, check, credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or have the cost deducted from their paycheck.  If the pass is paid with cash, check or credit card, the full or prorated amount must be paid at the time of issuance.  If the cost is payroll deducted, it will be deducted on a monthly pre-tax basis whenever possible.

• If pass is lost or stolen, employee must sign a lost/stolen statement.
• If pass is damaged, it must be brought in to be replaced.
• Passes may be replaced at a charge of $2.00 per pass and the original pass will be electronically deactivated.
