Bus Pass Prices and Refunds

UI students (including graduate, teaching, and research assistants) may purchase deeply discounted unlimited-ride Iowa City, Coralville or North Liberty Transit bus passes if they meet the requirements below. Passes sell at the semester rate and will be prorated according to the date of sale. Students may either pay with cash, credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or have the cost charged to their University bill. To cancel a pass, the pass must be returned to the Parking Office. North Liberty has contracted with Coralville Transit to provide bus service. Coralville bus passes will be used on the North Liberty routes.

Requirements for Subsidized pass

Must be a registered UI student for the current semester
Must not be a full time UI faculty or staff
May have a "Night", "Storage" or no parking permit
May not have a "Day", "Law" (R or S), "Commuter", "Hancher Lot", or "Mayflower Lot" parking permit. If one of these permits is obtained after a bus pass has been issued, the cost of the bus pass will increase to the non-subsidized rate for the month the permit was issued and every month after until the pass expires.
Students must reside in Iowa City to get an Iowa City Transit pass. Students must reside in Coralville or North Liberty to get a Coralville Transit pass. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis for students not residing in Iowa City or Coralville.
Only one current pass will be issued to a student at a time. Pass is to be used only by the purchaser.

Must be a registered UI student for the current semester
Must not be a full time UI faculty or staff
Students must reside in Iowa City to get an Iowa City Transit pass. Students must reside in Coralville or North Liberty to get a Coralville Transit pass. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis for students not residing in Iowa City or Coralville.

				If an active bus pass goes from Subsidized to Non-Subsidized or vice versa at anytime within the month, the bus pass costs for the entire month is $20.

Iowa City Free Downtown Shuttle

During the fall and spring semesters, if you live on the east side of town, the Iowa City Shuttle may be your best option to get to campus. Best of all, there is no fare to ride this bus. Iowa City Transit telephone number is 356-5151. This bus does not run during the summer.

Private companies provide weekend transportation to and from Iowa City and Chicago. Check their website for information:
