Support our tradition of excellence

The Department strives to continue the concepts that represent its roots: a continuing commitment to the notion that scientific exploration of the speech and hearing processes and their disorders is critical to future progress in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, and hearing problems. One of the best ways to ensure our tradition of excellence continues is to support our students. This support allows the Department to attract the best and brightest students and to help them achieve their goals in a reasonable time.

The UI Foundation provides an easy mechanism for on-line giving to programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders and will be earmarked for student travel or for areas of greatest need.

Several scholarships have been established to honor specific individuals. Contributions to those funds may be mailed to Katherine Rebal, 119 Wendell Johnson Speech & Hearing Center, University of Iowa, Iowa City IA 52242.

Dorothy Sherman's estate provides financing for student travel. The ability to regularly attend meetings, present research, and make contacts an essential part of our students' education.

A fund in Jim Curtis' name supports graduate student research projects.

The Kristin Lodge-Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund
is given to an outstanding Iowa graduate in speech pathology.

The Bette Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund provides a monetary award for a student in clinical fluency.

The Laurel Stanzel Fund is awarded to an outstanding student in audiology.

The Leland and Esther Ogdahl Fund provides a scholarship to a speech pathology student.

The Shirley and Thomas Salmon Award is given to a speech pathology student.

The Bette R. Spriestersbach has just been established to recognize excellent students and assist financially in their education.
