Mission
The Collaborative tOols for Research and iNstruction project was initiated
to integrate University of Iowa resources for computer-based collaboration.
The vision for CORN is to advance the awareness of existing capabilities
and to coordinate the development of new technologies and services in a
manner that best fits the needs of University of Iowa
People
The CORN project is made up of faculty and staff who use
and develop collaborative tools and by service providers around campus
who enable
others in the use of these tools.
Services
The University of Iowa Information Technology Services is
developing a number of collaborative tools resources including file sharing,
video
conferencing, web casting, virtual reality, and digital asset management
services. The on campus infrastructure includes 10/100 base ethernet
(mention
standards here les). Off-campus connectivity is enhanced by the University's
connection to Internet2.
Projects
Current
projects range from the development of new services such as web casting
to participation in multi-disciplinary grants that propose the
development of new "Collaboratories" customized to fit the
collaboration needs for researchers at multiple institutions in a particular
discipline. |
