UI-CSSA President Election and Board Recruitment
Dear Friends:
Based on CSSA constitution, we have annual elections. This
year, the annual election will start from March until April
2nd, on which date the result will be announced.
The University of Iowa Chinese Students and Scholars Association
(UI-CSSA) is the biggest international association on campus,
serving all the Chinese people and promoting the friendship
within and beyond the Chinese community. CSSA is the major Chinese
association enriching Chinese life in Iowa City, getting oversea
Chinese people together. Making CSSA better as our life bridge
is the responsibility of every CSSA member. Thus, everybody,
please participate in the 2006¡¯ CSSA President Election and
Board Recruitment for the term 2006-2007! Thanks!

Election Constitution (2006)
I. CANDIDATE NOMINATION
In the election we vote for the PRESIDENT of the UI-CSSA.
If you are interested in OR
know someone special who is eligible for running
for the presidency, please send an email to studorg-cssa@uiowa.edu
and cc it to song-yi@uiowa.edu, indicating the candidate¡¯s name
and affiliation.
a. Eligibility: All Chinese students who are
currently enrolled in the University of Iowa and all Chinese
visiting scholars and current post-doc research fellows.
b. Deadline: 11:59pm,
March 25, 2006
c. Nomination: President candidates are required
to send his/her resume,
recent photo, service
plan (less than 500 words in either English or Chinese)
and future partners¡¯ names
(if applicable) to studorg-cssa@uiowa.edu and cc it to song-yi@uiowa.edu
by email. Additional information is welcome. The candidate must
come to IMU on April 2nd
to face the public in the press meeting.
II. THE ELECTION MECHANISM
a. Presidency: The president candidates¡¯ information
will be posted on CSSA¡¯s web
(http://www.uiowa.edu/~cssa) on Sunday, March
26, 2006.
The Voting Time will be March 27,
2006 to April 1, 2006 (Mon 0:01AM to Sat 11:59PM).
In order to ensure the voting transparency, this year CSSA will
continue to use our group email list. In other words, everyone,
please send your ballot directly to cssa@list.uiowa.edu for
your candidate. Note, only these email origins are acceptable:
UI email address with part of their domain names as UIOWA.EDU
(such as @uiowa.edu, @blue.weeg.uiowa.edu, @engineering.uiowa.edu,
etc.)
b. Oversighting affairs: An oversighting committee
including faculty and/or senior graduates will be invited to
modulate the election process. All valid bollots must indicate
the voter¡¯s name and major department and whom to vote. CSSA
has the ultimate verification of the Eligibility of votes. The
oversighting committee will count the ballots on Sunday, April
2, 2006 (7pm) when the public meeting in IMU
(Minnesota room, Rm 347) takes place. CSSA will announce the
election results soon after.
c. Board Member Recruitment: To get a more service-aware
board and greater sense of participation from all Chinese students,
we think it's better to let our CSSA members, volunteer to compete
for CSSA board members by interviews. It is independent of the
president election. CSSA affairs are mainly focused on activity
organizing, web designing, life directing, information distributing,
funding raising, new-student assisting, etc. All candidates
who are interested in being future executive board members,
must send your nomination to studorg-cssa@uiowa.edu with your
resume only, indicating
which of the above areas you are good at. Your interview will
also be on Sunday, April 2,
2006 (7pm) when the public meeting in IMU
(Minnesota room, Rm 347) takes place.
