The UICB Type Kitchen
The certificate requires 24 semester hours of coursework in courses numbered 100 and above, which must be taken at the graduate level. At least 6 semester hours must be taken in historical/cultural courses and 6 semester hours in arts & technologies courses.
Coursework includes a final project—a substantial work supervised by a committee chosen by the student. The student chooses elective courses from the UICB approved list, or, with prior approval, from other departments in the University. The electives must be distributed so that no more than nine semester hours are taken in one area of concentration. Concentration areas have been defined as printing, bookbinding, papermaking, design, calligraphy, and historical/cultural.
Students monitor their own progress in the Certificate Program. The student's advisor and the Certification Committee review the course work completed and confirm that all requirements have been met.
