Special KGAN-TV License Challenge Announcement: On December 22, 2005, the local citizens group we talked about in class, Iowans for Better Local Television, presented to the KGAN-TV station manager its petition to deny the license renewal of KGAN-TV2 (CBS), the Sinclair station in Cedar Rapids. A video of that event is available in a number of formats from http://resourcesforlife.com/dropbox/ibltv. You will want to check the IBLTV Web site, http://www.ibltv.org, for general information about IBLTV, its Petition to Deny, and media reform generally. You can also just click here for the MSWord version of the Petition, sent to the FCC on December 24, as well as a brief Supplement sent on December 29. About 470 pages of Exhibits and Declarations accompanying the Petition are available at the FCC in Washington and the Reference Desk of the Public Library in Iowa City, Iowa. Some may become available online as links from the IBLTV Web site as well. Counsel for Sinclair/KGAN-TV responded with its formal "Opposition," to which IBLTV responded on February 15 with a formal "Reply" and accompanying "Appendices." (like the Petition, also in MSWord format).
