Welcome to the webpage for the Disability Planning and Action Committee. DPAC has as its mission to lead and coordinate the UI’s efforts to build a campus environment that embraces members of the UI community with disabilities. The members of the DPAC are:

We invite you to use this website to connect to resources, learn about upcoming events, and learn about what we can all do to improve in our efforts to promote access and inclusion for persons with disabilities.

For 2009 we have identified three priorities:

  • Planning a spring Disability Awareness Summit
  • Develop a protocol for welcoming to our community faculty and staff who have disabilities and may need accommodation, and connecting them to resources
  • Participating in the university’s budget reduction process to be aware of the impact on our disability inclusion efforts.

What is BrowseAloud?

BrowseAloud is free software that reads web pages out loud. It can help anyone who has difficulty reading on-line, including people with mild visual impairments, low literacy, English as a second language, or learning disabilities, such as dyslexia.
