ePortfolio - Create a New Electronic Tool for Job Seeking - ePortfolio

Hiring officials want evidence that new hires are well trained in their subject area, communicate effectively with parents, work collaboratively in teams, and incorporate technological applications in the classroom.

The ePortfolio project helps develop technological competencies that easily transfer from the campus setting to the world of work. Become part of the College of Education's electronic portfolio project and build a new electronic tool for job seeking.

About the project:
The Electronic Portfolio Project is a special project developed for students in the College of Education at The University of Iowa. Rebecca Anthony, Director of Educational Placement, introduced the idea of taking the traditional paper interview portfolio and transforming the materials into an electronic version in 1996. John Achrazoglou, Instructional Technology Coordinator, has provided guidance for the technical skills that help translate ideas and paper materials to web-based portfolios.

Input regarding portfolio materials was contributed by hiring officials from 49 states in a national study that asked employers about their process for screening and selecting licensed educators. Results from this survey (co-conducted by Rebecca Anthony and Gerald Roe, The University of Iowa) are used by students when designing ePortfolios.

Example portfolios:
The following model portfolios demonstrate many of the capabilities of this electronic marketing tool. Please examine the contents of the model portfolios but do not copy the material for use in your own electronic version. Remember, employers value creativity in the graduates they hire.
