In our
teacher-education program, Anne DiPardo regularly offers the MA Seminar
in English Education and Language and Learning; she also teaches elective
courses in writing about education, observational research in classroom
settings, literacy research, and issues in teachers' professional lives.
She is the author of A Kind of Passport: A Basic Writing Adjunct
Program and the Challenge of Student Diversity (Urbana,
IL: National Council of Teachers of English, 1993), and Teaching
in Common: Challenges to Joint Work in Classrooms and Schools (NY:
Teachers College Press/NCTE, 1999); she has also published in such journals
as Anthropology and Education Quarterly, Educational Leadership,
Written Communication, Reading Research Quarterly, Review of Educational
Research, English Education, and Theory and Research in Social Education.
She is a past recipient of the NCTE/CEE Richard A. Meade Award for outstanding
research in English education, the NCTE Promising Researcher Award,
the National Writing Centers Outstanding Scholarship Award, and a National
Academy of Education Spencer Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Anne is currently
co-editor (along with Melanie Sperling) of NCTE's empirical journal,
Research in the Teaching
