I'm finally back in an English Department, having taken the long way through a J.D. and a short sojourn into the working world. I am pursuing an English Lit Ph.D. for several reasons, but primarily because of my aesthetic appreciation for the arts of poetry and prose, and my firm belief in the power and utility of the great works and minds of the English Canon to inform, criticize, and help positively shape Anglo-American jurisprudence. It is with these beliefs that I approach my doctoral studies, and make an attempt to contribute to the interdisciplinary field of law and literature. Along the way, I hope to find those bodies of English lit that are best suited to achieve that end.
On a more serious note, I'm an avid sportsman--of the first-person, online-shooter variety. On any given day, I can be found drinking in the beauty of lush, vibrant, and fully-rendered 3D virtual worlds as I transform the virtual bodies around me into glorious viscera that really pushes my video card to its limits. On top of all that, I make a mean chocolate soufflé.
