In its ninth year, the Catalyst Award Reception and Award Ceremony honors creative initiatives by faculty, staff, students, student organizations, and units/departments that enhance The University of Iowa's commitment to achieving excellence through diversity.

The Distinguished Catalyst Award Recognition is a special category this year suggested by the Catalyst Award Selection committee to recognize the historic leadership that has gone above and beyond their expectations as an employee at The University of Iowa to impact civility and respect, diversity and inclusion.

2007 Catalyst Award Recipients

Individuals Awards:

  • Rachel Garza Carreon, Outreach, Recruitment & Research Librarian, University Libraries
  • Kathleen Kemp, Program Administrator & Admissions Coordinator, School of Social Work

Student Award:

  • Katherine Imborek, Carver College of Medicine Gay, Lebian, Bisexual organization MEDIQS

Department/Organization Award:

  • Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) Graduate/Postdoctoral Workshop Series

Distinguished Award Recognition:

  • Willie 'Fred' Mims, Associate Director of Athletics for Student Services and Compliance, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics

Each recipient will receive a cash award which will be presented at the Catalyst Awards Program:
