Check out ICATER's assistive technology exhibit at UI State Fair booth
The Iowa State Fair is ongoing in Des Moines, and The University of Iowa will spend the week hosting specialized exhibits and Hawkeye heroes.
Here are some highlights for Monday, Aug. 17:
The Iowa Center for Assistive Technology Education and Research (ICATER) in the UI College of Education will host the assistive technology exhibit from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fairgoers will see demonstrations of some of the cutting-edge technology being used in educational settings to help students with disabilities access educational opportunities. Visitors will experience what it is like to use a head controlled mouse and see demonstrations of speech recognition software.
The Hawkeye Spotlight will include appearances by Mark Ironside (wrestling), Steve Krafcisin (men's basketball), and Layne Anderson (cross-country, track) from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and Chuck Hartlieb (football) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
