UI Afro-Cuban Drum and Dance Ensemble to perform
The Afro-Cuban Drum and Dance Ensemble of University of Iowa Division of Performing Arts will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday–Saturday, Nov. 12–14, in Space Place Theater of North Hall on the UI campus. Tickets are $12 ($6 for youth and senior citizens; free for UI students with a valid UI ID) and are available from the Hancher Auditorium box office. The ensemble studies the folkloric music and dance traditions of Cuba, which have greatly influenced the music of North America and other parts of the world. The styles studied by the group include rumba, guiro, bembe, palo, mozambique, conga de comparsa, arara, and yesa. prepared by University Relations
