Psychology B.A.

If you are interested in the Psychology B.A. you should be ready to start with an applied statistics course, usually 22S:25 Elementary Statistics and Inference.

Here’s what you need to do to be ready for the applied statistics for this major:

Master the work in first year algebra (22M:1)
Master the work in second year algebra (22M:8)

The course number that is listed links to a description of an equivalent course at the UI with a sample final exam.  Check out the exam to see the types of skills you are expected to have.

You may take an Advanced Placement statistics course.  If you do this, you need to earn at least a 4 on the AP Statistics exam in order to receive credit at the University of Iowa.

Or you might take a statistics course at a community college or university while you are still in high school.  If you do this, you need to do well because the grade you earn may help determine whether you are admitted to a competitive major.
