Parking
Appeals Committee
2002-2003
Annual Report
The
Parking Appeals Committee meets once a month on the third Wednesday of the
month, to review all faculty and staff who have appealed their tickets in the
previous month. The average number
or appeals increased greatly in the summer of 2002 when the university doubled
most of its ticket fines. This
almost doubled the length of time that meetings took to about 3 hours, until the
university driving community became aware of the increase in fine amounts.
It has since subsided greatly although still seems to be running higher
than the previous years. The review committee also permits people to appeal in person
for which requests have averaged about one a month although the percentage of
time that the person shows is about 50%. Usually
people are appealing handicap tickets in these appearances.
