Michael B. Cohen

It is a privilege and an honor to be nominated for Secretary of the Faculty Senate.

I have been a UI faculty member since 1990, arriving as an assistant professor and currently am a Professor in the Departments of Pathology, Urology and Epidemiology; and, I currently serve as Head of the Department of Pathology.  During the last ~15 years, I have been actively involved with teaching in a variety of different venues, research, and patient care activities.  In addition, I have been actively involved with a number of academic service activities in both the Carver College of Medicine and University Hospitals & Clinics, as well as serving as a Faculty Senator, including the Faculty Council.  Specific local examples include service on the Executive Committee of the CCOM, the IRB, various departmental review and search committees, the Presidential Biological Scholars Program, and the Faculty/Staff Budget Committee.

Open and effective dialogue between the faculty and central administration is critical to success of this institution.  I look forward the opportunity to represent the faculty and serve as the Faculty Senate Secretary.
