CHARGE TO THE COMMITTEE ON THE SELECTION OF CENTRAL ACADEMIC OFFICIALS
University of Iowa Faculty Senate Bylaws, Article III, Section 2:
The Committee on the Selection of Central Academic Officials: (1) consults with and advises the Board of Regents regarding the selection of the president of the University and with the president regarding the selection of other central academic officials; (2) consults with and advises the president of the University, on invitation, regarding appropriate processes for conducting searches for central academic officials; and (3) participates in the review of all central academic offices and officers. These include the president, the several vice-presidents, and University-wide administrative deanships.
Fewer than all members of the Committee may be appointed to consult regarding the selection of the president or the selection of other central academic officials. Two members of the Committee will be appointed by the Faculty Senate president in consultation with the chairperson of the Committee to participate in the academic review of central academic offices and officers.
The Committee shall consist of members from at least three different Colleges and its membership shall appropriately reflect the expertise and diversity of the entire faculty. The Faculty Senate president is ex officio a member of this Committee when it is consulting on the selection of a president of the University.
