Grants
Every year the Fine Arts Council offers student grants to support the production and presentation of literary, visual, or performing arts and/or artistic compositions, and to acquaint students with the grant process. The maximum award set by the Council is $500.00. All applicants must be registered students for both the grant proposal period and the production period.
The final form of the grant proposal will be dictated by the nature of the project itself. Applicants must submit a complete application to be considered for the grant. Grants will be awarded on the basis of the quality, clarity and thoroughness of the proposal, the qualifications of the applicant, and the reasonableness of the proposal budget in relation to the expected results. Projects with specific objectives and clearly defined goals will be given funding priority. Projects that have already been completed can not be considered for grants. Projects are to be completed within one calendar year, although extensions are possible if the Fine Arts Council is contacted in advance.
Grant recipients will receive half of the award upon beginning the project and the remainder upon its completion. The grantee is required to furnish the Council with documentation of the project's completion. All promotion, publicity, advertising, or any printed materials pertaining to the project, must include the following credit statement: "This project was supported [in part] by a grant from the University of Iowa Fine Arts Council."
