Dr. James Pusack was an influential language pedagogue and a pioneer in computer-assisted instruction of second language acquisition. Along with professor Otto, he was a key figure in the development of authentic television materials for the teaching of language and culture, including the leadership of PICS, The University of Iowa's project for national distribution of foreign television programming and the creation of Flash-based activities created in Iowa’s ObjectMover authoring system. The author of multiple articles on topics related to multimedia, he was a founding member of FLARE, The University of Iowa's Ph.D. program in second language acquisition.
