The Department of French and Italian introduces students to the cultures of France and Italy, provides an understanding of those countries' historical and contemporary importance and facilitates development of proficiency in the French and Italian languages. It fosters critical appreciation of French Language, Civilization, and Literature, Francophone Literature, and Italian Language, Civilization and Literature. Students may pursue graduate study in French Language, French Literature or Comparative literature in preparation for careers in College Teaching, High School Teaching, International Business and Finance, Governmental Agencies, Communications, and Travel. The Department offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts in French
and Italian, Master of Arts in French, Master of Arts in French Education
and Doctor of Philosophy in French.
