The University of Iowa buys products and services from many businesses every year. The University requires proof of insurance from many vendors, with the specific requirements stated in the contract. The types and amounts of insurance required will be dependent on the services that are being provided and the obligations of the parties under the contract.
The University of Iowa may be asked to provide proof of insurance or self-insurance for its facilities and activities. To request a certificate of insurance or proof of self-insurance coverage, send a written request to the Department of Risk Management, Insurance, and Loss Prevention with a copy of the original document (contract, letter, etc.) requesting the certificate. The written request and document should provide basic information as to the activity, services, or event to be covered; including the dates and to whom the certificate should be issued.

The University permits, but does not require, travel on aircraft that is personally/privately owned by a University traveler or employee. Both pilots and passengers are solely responsible for their decision to use a personally owned or privately leased/rented aircraft to travel.
Any person authorized to travel at University expense and who intends to use/pilot a personally owned or privately leased aircraft while on approved University business must follow the guidelines as stated in the University's Policies and Procedure Manual, SectionV-22.1(4).
The University is not responsible for personal injury or damage for individuals who choose to travel in a privately owned or leased aircraft. In the event of an accident injury, or damage, travelers must look to the responsible party, the pilot or owner of the aircraft or their insurance, for recourse.
