Certificates of Insurance

The University of Iowa buys products and services from many businesses every year. The University requires proof of insurance from many vendors, with the specific requirements stated in the contract. The types and amounts of insurance required will be dependent on the services that are being provided and the obligations of the parties under the contract.
The University of Iowa may be asked to provide proof of insurance or self-insurance for its facilities and activities. To request a certificate of insurance or proof of self-insurance coverage, send a written request to the Department of Risk Management, Insurance, and Loss Prevention with a copy of the original document (contract, letter, etc.) requesting the certificate. The written request and document should provide basic information as to the activity, services, or event to be covered; including the dates and to whom the certificate should be issued.

All certificates of insurance to be provided by other businesses and/or requests for the University's insurance or self-insurance certificates should be sent to:

Personal Aircraft

The University permits, but does not require, travel on aircraft that is personally/privately owned by a University traveler or employee. Both pilots and passengers are solely responsible for their decision to use a personally owned or privately leased/rented aircraft to travel.

Any person authorized to travel at University expense and who intends to use/pilot a personally owned or privately leased aircraft while on approved University business must follow the guidelines as stated in the University's Policies and Procedure Manual, SectionV-22.1(4).

The University is not responsible for personal injury or damage for individuals who choose to travel in a privately owned or leased aircraft.
