Corrections
Reports across the country claimed that the Y2K bug was all but nonexistent.
Well, here at fyi were running our largest list of corrections
ever, and we know that there is only one possible reasonthe Y2K bug
chose to vent its entire fury on the Jan. 4 issue of this publication. While
that was good news for airlines, patients on operating tables, and anyone
living in or near Montana, it was hard on the fyi staff, who pride
themselves on getting it right. While we regret these many errors, were
relieved that we have something to blame other than ourselvesand we
also think this is the last time well ever be able to use this excuse.
- In "Emergencies on campus: Who to call if something goes wrong,"
the number to call was incorrectly listed as 9-911. The number to call
to report campus emergency situations is 911.
- The software program in use by the child in the photo on page 2 was
incorrectly identified as its predecessor, Foundations in Reading. The
program is Breakthrough to Literacy. The software was being used at
the Breakthrough to Literacy, Inc. building dedication.
- In "Exploring American studies abroad: Desmond named 2000 Global
Scholar," Jane Desmond was incorrectly identified as being the
fourth UI scholar to receive the award. She is the sixth. Also, the
program was initiated in 1995 and the first award was made in 1995 for
the 1996-97 year.
- In the publications and creations section, several authors were incorrectly
listed in the College of Liberal Arts. L. Margolin should have been
listed under the College of Education, and L.B. Sutherland, A.F. Russo,
D.L. Segaloff, J.L. Urbanowski, and R.C. Piper should have been listed
under the College of Medicine.
