James Van Allen Fellowship to Han
The $15,000 Van Allen award, one of two faculty fellowships awarded in alternate years by the University, is designed to encourage and support the work in the physical, natural, and mathematical sciences. The funds may be used for a variety of scholarly endeavors, including summer research, the appointment of a graduate research assistant, reimbursement for a visiting lecturer, or for supplies, equipment, or travel. With the award, Han will continue his research on a posteriori analysis for modeling errors in engineering problems and a posteriori error analysis for numerical solutions of nonlinear boundary value problems arising in mechanics.
